Death may not be the end, but his fifteen years on Earth? Yeah, they’re over. Kyle McClintock, beloved athlete and big brother of four, now spends his days in a place they call the In-between—that place between Earth and whatever comes next. Kyle’s not the only kid his age there, but he is the only one suffering death without a cause.
Since no one in the In-Between is giving him answers, Kyle figures the only way he's going to find out how he died is by teaming up with the operators of a black market scheme who send the newly dead back to earth in borrowed bodies—at a steep cost. This particular black market needs more merchandise and they’ve got their sights set on the living, notably, on the people Kyle loves most.
